Special Educational Needs and Disabilities

There are times when some children need additional support during their school life.

In partnership with parents/carers, outside agencies and our dedicated team of teaching and support staff, we endeavour to identify promptly a child’s particular needs, so that a planned programme of support can be organised.

Evaluation of our Provision

A very small proportion of pupils access support. Provision of SEN pupils is highly effective. For example in 2018 and 2019 we were significantly above the national average for the proportion of pupils meeting the expected standard in Year 1 Phonics and at the end of Key Stage 1 in reading, writing and maths. Those children receiving support made very good progress from their starting points.

By the time our pupils leave us to transfer to middle school at the end of Yr 4 the vast majority meet year group expectations with a significant proportion exceeding them. SEND pupils make very good progress and an effective transition is in place with additional support to enable them to settle in to their new school in Year 5.

(Note: Data unavailable for 2019-20 as all statutory test were suspended due to the  Cornavirus pandemic)

We are confident that all of our SEN pupils achieve the very best that they can with the support of our SEN team.
