“All children deserve the care and support they need to have the best start in life. Children learn and develop at a faster rate from birth to five years old than at any other time in their lives, so their experiences in early years have a major impact on their future life chances. A secure, safe, and happy childhood is important in its own right. Good parenting and high-quality early learning provide the foundation children need to fulfil their potential.”

In Reception we are proud to offer a diverse and engaging curriculum designed to help children cultivate important skills and knowledge to build upon as they move through school life and beyond. Our learning environment has two indoor classrooms for teaching and discovery, but we also embrace every chance to extend our learning outdoors—whether in our Reception yard, forest area, or mini allotment. That's why wellies and wetsuits are a must; we believe that weather should never hinder our exploration and fun!
There are three 'prime' areas that are particularly important for building a foundation for igniting children’s curiosity and enthusiasm for learning, forming relationships and thriving. They are, Communication and Language, Physical Development. and Personal, Social & Emotional Development. We also support children in four 'specific' areas, through which the three prime areas are strengthened and applied. These are Literacy, Mathematics, Understanding the World, and Expressive Arts and Design.
Every day the children are taught phonics and maths, with further opportunities to embed and enhance their learning through a variety of provision, both indoors and outside.
